Kandy

Kandy is Sri Lanka’s spiritual center or capital, and whether you are interested in the world’s religions or not, do not miss a stay in Kandy. The city offers culture, colors and folklore. It is not without reason that it is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Kandy is located in central Sri Lanka in a valley surrounded by small mountains almost 500 meters above sea level. The city is the second largest and the country’s old capital, where Sri Lanka’s last king ruled.

Sigiriya

Sigiriya, also known as the Lion Rock. Just the sight of this 200-meter-high giant cliff tells something special. The rock holds a secret that you will first discover when you get to the top. However, the surroundings give a clue as to what it is hiding at the top of Sigiriya. A neat system of gardens, caves and water reservoirs demonstrates that the area in a distant past was used for something special. Sigiriya is impressive, not just because of the size and appearance on the horizon. The 1,200 steps leading up to the top and the palace ruins, pass what was once probably the world’s largest painting. Today it is almost faded away by the climate, but there are still frescos elsewhere in Sigiriya.

Minneriya National Park

Located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa, the 8890 hectares of Minneriya National Park is an ideal eco tourism location in Sri Lanka . The park consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub areas and is home to Sri Lanka ‘s favourites such as sambar deer, leopards and elephants.

During visits to temples and religious sites Dress code while at temples: suitable apparel is required. Temples are places of worship, therefore caps, shorts below knee level or open t-shirts/shirts/blouses are not allowed. Besides, posing for pictures with sacred statues is considered a rude gesture and a penal offense punishable by law.
